Paul Weightman, Senior Funeral Director, was kind, empathetic and deeply sincere from the moment David, my partner walked through the door. As David said, it felt like a “marriage” from that first meeting — a genuine sense of trust and reassurance. Paul made the process of making funeral arrangements far more comforting than we ever expected. Nothing felt rushed, and discussions about cost were handled with sensitivity and practical, honest advice, making what could have been awkward feel completely manageable. The guidance throughout was crystal clear, and Paul’s recommendation of celebrant Hannah was absolutely perfect. Hannah took the time to truly understand my partner’s mum and delivered a ceremony that was warm, personal and beautifully balanced — respectful yet uplifting, and exactly right for family and friends, with the added comfort that those unable to attend could watch via the streaming facility. True to their 24/7 promise, we felt fully supported at every stage and that nothing was unachievable. Within a minute of meeting Paul at GFS I was certain that my mum (Julie) would be in safe hands. Where do you start when a loved one dies. Sitting in their office felt rather daunting but immediately Paul simply spoke my language. No ambiguity, a fantastic reassuring manner where he distilled what mattered and what doesn't need to matter. If you want a cheaper option on a particular aspect of the funeral service than he will ensure you know it exists. It's tricky making difficult decisions at the best of time as you tend to over-analyse things, and these guys simply allowed us to think about our role in the passing of our mum rather than getting overly anxious. We engaged with GFS and not for a minute did i need to wait to get a straight answer on any query. The service itself was a thing of joy, truly. Paul recommended a celebrant who utterly nailed it. The service was streamed for those who logistically struggled to make it there and they conducted it with aplomb. I've even re-watched the whole ceremony which may appear weird but honestly it's so cathartic. Getting things right is very important, to do the deceased justice, and we did.
