J & D Lawson Funeral Directors has been serving the local community of Kirkintilloch and East Dunbartonshire for over 130 years, having been established in the late 1800s by David Lawson. The firm began at the Black Bull Stables in Kirkintilloch, where funeral directing was initially a sideline to the carriage hire and public transport business, with a horse-drawn hearse available when required. Over the generations, the Lawson family grew the business to meet the expanding needs of the community, and a purpose-built funeral home was constructed in the late 1970s at 9 Kilsyth Road, Kirkintilloch, where the branch continues to operate today.
The dedicated team at J & D Lawson Funeral Directors is committed to creating tailored funerals that reflect the unique life of each loved one. They are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by telephone, and are also happy to arrange home visits to discuss funeral arrangements at a time that suits families. The branch offers a full range of services including cremations, burials, green and woodland funerals, unattended cremations, and repatriation, as well as prepaid funeral plans through the Choice plan.
Now part of Funeral Partners Limited, J & D Lawson continues to uphold its longstanding reputation for compassionate, professional care within the Kirkintilloch community, with prices starting from £1,700 (excluding third-party fees).
"They made our Mothers funeral so special and were so professional throughout. They took care of everything for us."
— Jan Burns
"The team ensured that the Funeral Service was fully co-ordinated and carried out with dignity; exceeding our expectations. Michael offered appropriate guidance when we were making the arrangements and made contact with others involved in the Service to take care of our wishes."
— Shona Fraser (about Michael)
"Michael arranged my mum's cremation with amazing professionalism which helped me so much. Thank you all for your help and kindness. I would not hesitate to recommend J & D Lawson to anyone."
— Yvonne Johnston (about Michael)
"An extremely professional service provided with real humanity. Helped in a desperately sad time to navigate and produce a lovely and touching goodbye for our dear dad, husband and grandad."
— Kevin Cummings (about Stephen)
"Michael is such a calm and helpful person to deal with and takes the stress out of what is a difficult time for families. Fantastic staff who looked after both my Dad and Mum with complete care and respect and helped us in giving them both funerals that would have met with their approval. Nothing too much trouble."
— Carol Fraser (about Michael)
"The staff took a great deal of time and effort to ensure that when my sons went to view her she looked good and at peace. Throughout the whole process all the staff were really good ensuring that the whole process and funeral went without any problems in a very sensitive manner. Throughout they put the family first at all times."
— Neil Milner (about Stephen)
