On Saturday 17th January 2026 our lives were shattered and our hearts broken when our loving and devoted Mam left us. From that evening when the staff came to collect Mam and take her to be cared for and prepared, to the day of the funeral, the staff at John G Hogg were a massive support to us. Through the consultations, Gemma was professional and empathetic to both me and my sister and nothing was a problem or a bother to her. I have no doubt that Mam was in very safe and competent hands to be cared for and prepared for her final journey. Thanks for everything Gemma, you and the team were amazing !!

I wanted to say a big thank you to John Hogg Funeral Directors for their professionalism whilst taking care of my Mothers funeral. I’d never had to go through this before and Every staff member I spoke to showed empathy, kindness and patience. John was amazing at making us feel at ease and really showed he cared. It was an extremely hard time but the service we received was extraordinary and I truly thank you all. X

I have never had to arrange a funeral before but I am so pleased that as a family we chose John g hogg. Not even sure I have the words to explain my gratitude. Gemma was absolutely amazing, from the first time upon meeting her and until even the ceremony had ended. She was very attentive, compassionate and super professional... Nothing I could put into words would ever be enough. But I'd like to say a super thank you on behalf of me and my family for making our experience of funeral planning so easy and straight forward and giving my dad the send off he deserved.

They are so professional and caring. Nothing was too much trouble. Their care on the day of the funeral was exceptional. My parents took out a Golden Charter funeral plan with John G Hogg’s Funeral Directors way back in 2004. Dad passed 3 years later and his funeral was handled with great compassion with my mother handling the arrangements. 18 years later, in 2025, my 94 year old mother passed away at around 10.00 pm at the care home where she was being looked after. At 30 minutes past midnight she was taken from the home into the care of funeral director Stuart Goldsmith. Stuart later visited us at home to discuss our wishes for the funeral arrangements e.g. coffin type, vicar or celebrant, flowers, music etc. After listening to our views he gave honest unbiased advice, and sometimes offered his personal view, as to what our options could be with no hard sell to add any extras which would have incurred extra costs that were not covered by the plan. Our conversations with Stuart were always respectful but there were also many moments of humour. Once we had confirmed our wishes Stuart made a further visit to fully talk through the financials i.e. our choice of flower arrangements, Crematorium costs etc. He also arranged the ‘beam back’ so my sister’s family in Australia could watch the service either live or recorded. On the day of the funeral, timings were perfect, staff were compassionate and efficient and Stuart made sure that all our family, and of course my mother, were looked after. At a very sad and emotional time with a lot of arrangements needing to be made, John G Hogg and especially Stuart (Goldsmith) made it as pain free as it possibly good be. Thank you.
