Knox & Son Funeral Directors have been proudly serving the Warrington community for over 100 years, operating from the same premises on Orford Road that the business originally started in. Founded by Joseph Caldwell Knox as a coachbuilder and carriage master, the business has passed through several generations of dedicated funeral directors, building a reputation for professionalism, care, and traditional values. In 1960 the business was sold to the family of Liz Greenwood, retaining its historic name and highly professional reputation, and in 2025 it joined Funeral Partners Limited, a group of over 280 funeral homes across the country.
The team at Knox & Son are committed to creating tailored funerals that reflect the unique life of each loved one, providing personal attention to every detail. They offer a comprehensive range of services including cremations, burials, green and woodland funerals, unattended cremations, and repatriation, as well as products such as memorial masonry, coffin ranges, and floral tributes.
Available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by telephone, the team prides itself on being there whenever families need them, whether by visiting the funeral home, arranging a home visit, or simply calling for guidance and support during a difficult time.
"Exceedingly good service from start to finish. Nothing was too much trouble. Lovely staff. Did Dad and us very proud."
— Charlotte Hudson
"I would like to thank Knox and Son for the dignified and impeccable arrangements they provided for my mother's funeral. Rachel, Alan and the team were friendly, courteous and professional throughout and I have no hesitation in recommending them to others."
— John C (about Rachel, Alan)
"Liz and her colleagues in the office were always able to answer any questions we had and Alan and his team who were with us at the Crematorium were exceptionally professional and well dressed. Thank you all once again on behalf of our family."
— Joyce Thompson (about Liz, Alan)
"It's a fantastic family run business who looked after my mum with dignity and respect. Also helped us through every step. They're very helpful, kind and considerate and always at the end of the phone. Thank you Liz and all the staff for everything you've done for us."
— Daren Sutcliffe (about Liz)
"Having the unfortunate experience of losing both my Father and mother-in-law recently where we used two different Funeral Directors I can honestly say that Knox were by far the best. The quality and caring service was excellent. There were too many nice touches to list that they added but they did a magnificent job."
— Martin Thorley
