Le Roy Funeral Service is an independent family business established in 1950 by Mr Stanley Le Roy Priaulx, originally operating from various locations in Exeter. The company has been led by the Wreford family since Martin Wreford was appointed manager in 1968 and subsequently purchased the business in 1974. His sons Andrew and Nicholas Wreford continue to run the company today, supported by a dedicated team of staff.
The Alphington Road branch, located at 10 Alphington Road, St Thomas, Exeter, became the company's head office in 1986 following the growth of the business. The premises, which was formerly used as a Fire Station, Kings Potatoes, and Badcock Engineering, offers modern facilities for visiting clients, staff, and on-site car parking.
Le Roy Funeral Service prides itself on providing a friendly, courteous, and professional service, offering 24-hour personal care to families during their most difficult times. Their range of services includes a Traditional Funeral Service, a Simple Funeral Service, and a Direct Cremation option. The company is also actively involved in the local community, supporting various charities and organisations including Devon Air Ambulance, Hospiscare, Macmillan Cancer Support, and the Royal British Legion.
"They took wonderful care of him, and they took wonderful care of us. Nothing was too much trouble and the whole process once my husband was in their care was seamless and very professional, such that I had no worries at all about the funeral arrangements."
— Mitch Carey
"Michael in particular was fantastic, made the hardest time of my life, organising the funeral of my beautiful Mum, just that little bit easier."
— Bradley Riley (about Michael)
"Special thanks go to Leon Elliott for his very professional attitude, but also his ability to lighten the mood when required. Everything was dealt with in a highly organised manner and took all of the trauma out of it at what was an unexpected event for us."
— Mitch Carey (about Leon Elliott)
"On the day Tracy was professional, discreet, attentive, caring, and above all supportive. I have worked with many funeral directors through my job and Tracy at LeRoys is definitely one of the best."
— Peter Reece (about Tracy)
"Callum has helped me and my partner twice now in the most difficult of circumstances. Not only is Callum a fantastic funeral director he is also a genuinely compassionate and caring individual who is able to offer hope and guidance in your darkest times. He is patient and understanding of the process that is so different for everyone."
— Callum Linton (about Callum Jones)
"Joe made the whole process bearable under his direction…. Not many at that age have the positive demeanour that Joe has. The rest of the immediate family commented on him even after having only seen him at the crematorium, noting especially how he 'looked after' me. All requests I had made were adhered to…and even some thoughtful touches added by himself."
— Sarah Albertyn (about Joe)
