Neil & Sonya Milsted Independent Funeral Directors & Memorial Masons is a family-run funeral business based at 4 Hookstone Chase, Harrogate, North Yorkshire. Unlike corporate providers, they are not bound by corporate rules or shareholder pressures, allowing them to remain flexible and wholly focused on the needs of the deceased and their families. Neil has over 30 years of experience in the funeral and memorial service, beginning his career with Harrogate Borough Council's Cemeteries and Crematorium service in the 1980s, before becoming Bereavement Services and Welfare Funeral Manager for the City of York Council in 1993, and subsequently establishing his own funeral service in Harrogate.
Sonya has built the business alongside Neil, bringing 13 years of experience within the funeral industry. She personally looks after and cares for the female deceased, which the team regards as the ultimate expression of reverence and respect. The business operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and is supported by a dedicated and experienced team including a funeral director and several drivers and bearers.
Services offered include traditional and eco-friendly funerals, unique personalised coffins, funeral plans, hearse and limousine hire including horse-drawn vehicles, and a full range of memorial masonry and memorial products using materials from granite to Yorkshire stone.

— Sonya Milsted
"They ensured it was a celebration of mum's life which was what we hoped for. Thank you for all the support and care you gave our family it means more than I can say."
— Janice Williams
"Neil and Sonya Milsted provided exceptional care and compassion for my friend during his final days, treating him with the utmost respect and supporting his wife through an incredibly difficult time. I continue to be amazed by how they navigate such challenging situations with grace and empathy every single day."
— Alana Care Solutions
"When I phoned initially asking them to collect my Dad, they did so in such a timely manner and with such dignity. They even suggested and organised a live web cast of the service so family & friends overseas could watch the live stream at the same time. They really do go above and beyond."
— Carole Martin (about James)
"Losing my wife Sandra so suddenly was the most painful moment in my life and facing her funeral was just as hard. Sonya's lovely, calming, personable manner helped us through it all at a time when we were all distressed. Indeed, four months on, Sonya is still there to answer my queries in an ongoing relationship."
