R. J. Bray & Son is a locally owned, independent, family funeral directors serving North Cornwall, based in Wadebridge. The business has deep roots in the local community, with founder Ron Bray taking over the long-established funeral directors W T Williams & Son in November 1981, alongside his wife Jean. Their son David joined in 1983, followed by David's wife Beth, and subsequently the third generation — James, Daisy and Lily — continuing a proud family tradition of personal, dignified service.
The team at R. J. Bray & Son prides itself on offering a comprehensive range of funerals, from simple direct cremations through to full traditional services, including non-religious options and services for any denomination. They are proud of their Cornish heritage and often carry coffins 'the Cornish way' using carrying poles. They also offer a Service Chapel seating up to 80 people and a Function Room with catering options.
As members of both the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) and the National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors (SAIF), they adhere to the profession's leading Code of Practice and are regularly inspected. David Bray also holds the diploma in funeral directing and is a member of the British Institute of Funeral Directors. The team is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and offers free bereavement support.
