Susan Whymark Funeral Service is an independent, family-run business serving the Harleston community in Norfolk. The Harleston branch was opened in 2011 by Susan Whymark, who first became a funeral director in 1996 and founded the company in Eye with her mother Dianne in 2004. Susan gained her National Association of Funeral Directors diploma in 1998 and has built a trusted, compassionate service rooted in personal values rather than corporate pressures.
The team at Susan Whymark Funeral Service understands that bereavement is a confusing and distressing time, and their aim is to make the funeral arranging process as straightforward and stress-free as possible. They can assist families with every aspect of a funeral, from ordering flowers and printing orders of service to providing bereavement support. The business is a fully accredited member of both the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) and SAIF, adhering to a strict code of conduct.
Susan Whymark Funeral Service operates a 24-hour service, seven days a week, and takes great care over every detail to ensure each funeral passes smoothly and with dignity. They offer a calm, sensitive, and personal approach, always ready to listen and accommodate the individual needs of each family.
"The whole process was handled with complete care and empathy. I felt completely supported throughout, and they were on hand to provide some further support for a memorial event later. They helped to make a difficult time much, much easier."
— Ben Harding
"We held a small intimate gathering in Susan's funeral room which was beautiful and it was just mum to a tee — nothing flashy, just simple, so we were able to say goodbye in private. God was already there with us at the funeral parlour that day. Please don't bother going anywhere else — I did look around before going to Susan and I wished I hadn't bothered!"
— Juliette Bendell (about Susan)
"My 8 year old son passed away in September 2019 and we were recommended Susan Whymark — my goodness did she and her colleagues bend over backwards for us. They are such an understanding and sympathetic service, also unique in what you want. They tailored our sons service. I can not recommend them enough!"
— Nicky Goodwin (about Susan)
"When my mum passed away suddenly and I was all alone Susan and the team were only too kind they went above and beyond for myself. I became quite unhappy within myself and Susan and her team were only too happy to have my back that they got in touch with a bereavement charity who then offered 6 months of therapy. This parlour genuinely cares and has a heart. I will never forget the service and help they gave me at the most saddest time of my life."
— Juliette Bendell (about Susan)
