Look after yourself After a Death | Funeral Directory
18 Step 18 of 18

Look after yourself

Always

Dealing with a bereavement is exhausting — practically and emotionally. Make sure you are getting the support you need.

It is easy to get caught up in the practical tasks and forget to look after yourself. Some things that may help:

- Talk to someone you trust about how you are feeling
- Contact Cruse Bereavement Support (0808 808 1677) for free, confidential support
- See your GP if you are struggling with sleep, anxiety, or low mood
- Accept help when it is offered
- Be patient with yourself — grief has no timeline

There is no right way to grieve. Everyone's experience is different, and there is no set timetable for when things should feel easier.

If you need practical support with the tasks on this checklist, organisations like Citizens Advice and Age UK can help.

You have been managing a huge amount. Be kind to yourself.
