Arthur Gresty Funeral Homes has been serving the communities of Manchester and the surrounding areas since its establishment in 1933. The company was founded by Arthur Gresty himself, who was born in 1908 in Sale and went on to become the first qualified embalmer in the Sale/Altrincham area after gaining membership of the British Institute of Embalmers in 1946. The Altrincham branch is located at Greystones, 305 Manchester Road, West Timperley, and forms part of a two-branch operation alongside their Northenden funeral home.
The dedicated team at Arthur Gresty Funeral Homes is committed to creating tailored funerals that reflect the unique life of each loved one. They are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by telephone, and can also visit clients at home to discuss funeral arrangements. Their services include cremations, burials, green and woodland funerals, unattended cremations, and repatriation, along with a range of products including memorial masonry, coffins, and floral tributes.
As part of Funeral Partners Limited, Arthur Gresty Funeral Homes combines a rich local heritage with the support of a national network. The branch is a member of the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) and has received numerous positive reviews praising the professionalism, compassion, and personal care provided by their team.
"From the moment I spoke to Jill I felt my mum and my family were in safe hands. It was no problem for my mum to be taken closer to home and Jill was very proactive in making the funeral arrangements according to our wishes. Everyone met us with warmth, professionalism and kindness during our sadness."
— Jean Pace (about Jill)
"They even made the effort to allow us to visit on Sundays when they aren't usually open. Paul was so nice to us and treated us like a friend all throughout the process. The attention to detail you paid particularly towards the end made the experience truly special for my family."
— Victoria Griffiths (about Paul)
"They have been like an extended family. Always there to listen. Nothing was too much for them. Mike, Jean and all of your colleagues, you have raised the bar in giving us comfort. Such special people, who truly put into practice the words 'Caring For Others In Times Of Grief'."
— Antony Smith (about Mike)
"Anthony was amazing to deal with after Mum passed away. He was so kind, compassionate and professional and he gently guided and assisted us every step of the way. Anthony officiated at the service and made sure it had a personal touch and reflected Mum's life beautifully. She would have loved it."
— margaret brown (about Anthony)
"Mike even pointed out a rainbow after the service and stopped the limousine for us all to look at and take a photo. We spoke about rainbows during the service and he knew it was meaningful to the family."
— Paula Vindice (about Mike)
"Paul became apart of the family and carried our Mum with us down the aisle. We decorated the coffin, did our Mum's own makeup and Paul helped us source Vale Royal Crematorium. You want to feel like you're in control of your loved one's final show and Paul didn't let anything stand in our way. He was as determined as we were to get this right. Thank you Paul - not just for the Funeral, but for being there for us."

Paul and the team at Arthur Gresty were outstanding. Our Mum died back in November and with no plans for her funeral, the task ahead was intimidating. The pressure you feel to organise the perfect funeral is frightening, and for us, it was our Mum’s funeral. A woman who dedicated her life to us - she deserved the best. Well I can say without any hesitation, Arthur Gresty delivered the best. Me and my sisters genuinely wouldn’t have changed a thing. From the respectful handling and care of our Mum at the Funeral Home, to the professionalism on the day of the service. Paul and the team were incredible, and whilst it was only for a few weeks, Paul became apart of the family and carried our Mum with us down the aisle. Our Mum was an Artist and so we knew we had to create something special. Paul was so welcoming of any crazy ideas we had. We decorated the coffin, did our Mum’s own makeup and Paul helped us source Vale Royal Crematorium. The Canvas wall at Vale Royal made the Funeral feel more like a piece of ‘performance art’!! What a send off! The whole experience was so personalised and that’s important. You want to feel like you’re in control of your love one’s final show and Paul didn’t let anything stand in our way. He was as determined as we were to get this right. Thank you Paul. Like many of the other reviews on here, it’s hard to put into words how grateful we are - but for what’s it’s worth, from Cleo, Felix and Darcy, thank you. Not just for the Funeral, but for being there for us.

Cora was amazing. She was kind and thoughtful and offered advise on what we needed to do from registering dad's passing to returning with the green form. She was very empathetic and professional at all times. Would definitely recommend.

It's hard to put into words what a comfort and a truly professional 1st class caring approach all of the staff at Grestys gave me and my family, in the past 2 weeks, following our dear Mother's passing away. They have been like an extended family. Always there to listen. Nothing was too much for them. They have been there since day one and they were exactly the same when my Father passed away in 1994. We would never go to anyone else and we have the peace of mind in knowing that they will be there again, when such a sad event occurs again in the future. Mike, Jean and all of your colleagues, you have raised the bar in giving us comfort. You did my Mother and my family proud. We will never forget you. Such special people, who truly put into practice, the words 'Caring For Others In Times Of Grief' Wish I could say more, but I hope these words give an indication of our eternal gratitude. Thank you all. God bless. Alma, Tony, Kim, Billy.

Gresty’s did such an outstanding job from my Mum’s passing to the funeral. Every contact we had with them was so pleasant despite the circumstances, and the staff were always so kind in greeting us upon visiting to see Mum (especially Helen). They even made the effort to allow us to visit on Sundays when they aren’t usually open- top notch service. Thank you for taking such good care of Mum, the attention to detail you paid particularly towards the end made the experience truly special for my family. On the day of the funeral everything went brilliantly smoothly and all the staff were friendly and calmly conducted from leaving Gresty’s to the burial. A big thank you to Paul especially who was so nice to us and treated us like a friend all throughout the process, and a massive thank you as well to all the lovely staff. You are a huge credit to the funeral directors industry!
