Ernest Heal and Sons Funeral Directors has been serving the local community since 1929, when Ernest Heal founded the family business. The Monmouth branch, known as Chippenham Funeral Home, is located at Howells Place, Monmouth, and continues the long-standing tradition of providing dignified and professional funeral services to families in the Wye Valley and Monmouthshire area.
Now in its third generation of family ownership, the business is currently led by Paul Heal (the founder's grandson) and Neil Williams (married to the founder's granddaughter), who joined the company in 1998. The team upholds the highest standards of care, with funeral directors holding vocational qualifications such as the Diploma in Funeral Directing or Diploma in Funeral Administration, and committing to ongoing professional development.
As members of both the National Association of Funeral Directors and the Society of Allied Independent Funeral Directors, Ernest Heal and Sons adheres to a strict Code of Practice. The Monmouth branch offers a well-appointed funeral home with a private arrangement room, chapel of rest, and professional facilities, along with an immaculately presented fleet of Jaguar hearses and limousines. The team is available 24 hours a day and provides funeral plans through Golden Charter.
"3rd time in using them — very impressed, but this time was something else. It was outstanding. I thank Luke and everybody else involved, I appreciate you all so much."
— Tina Holmes (about Luke Dinsdale)
"I have been blown away by Ernest Heal's compassion, professionalism and care. The team were absolutely amazing — I cannot recommend this team of kind and expert professionals highly enough."
— Dean Turner
"I was overwhelmed by the service received by Luke in the planning stages and the empathy shown by this firm. On the day nothing was too much trouble, Luke had everything organised to clockwork. My whole experience was 10/10."
— sam watkins (about Luke)
"It was during the middle of lockdown and I'd been living abroad so it was an extra stressful time. Andrew and everyone I dealt with was kind, compassionate and made a very hard time a little easier. They were wonderful."
— Harriet Riley (about Andrew)
"I also decided to be a pallbearer; Luke and his team talked me through the process and made the experience beautiful rather than uncomfortable. I cannot recommend this team of kind and expert professionals highly enough."
— Dean Turner (about Luke)
"I picked up the phone in the morning and spoke to Luke Dinsdale, words cannot express how much he helped me and guided me at this really sad time. Somehow her funeral became beautiful, I never thought this was possible."
— Tina Holmes (about Luke Dinsdale)
