Harpin's Funeral Service has been proudly serving the communities of Wakefield and the surrounding areas for over 90 years. The business was established in 1932 by Leonard and Vera Harpin, who began their journey in the funeral industry after purchasing their first Rolls Royce in 1930. Through dedication and hard work, the family-run business grew significantly, and today their grandchildren Sean and Sara continue the legacy as Senior Funeral Director and Business Principal respectively.
The Outwood branch, located at Victoria House on Victoria Street, is one of several funeral homes operated by Harpin's, alongside branches in Wakefield, Horbury, and Normanton. The team is committed to providing tailored, compassionate funerals that reflect the unique life of each loved one, and can be contacted 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Harpin's Funeral Service offers a comprehensive range of services including cremations, burials, green and woodland funerals, unattended cremations, and repatriation. They are part of Funeral Partners Limited and are members of the National Association of Funeral Directors, ensuring professional standards of care at every step of the funeral process.
"Magnificent service and helped us all to get through a very difficult time — can't say thank you enough."
— Anna Pugh
"Everyone we had contact with was very helpful and professional from Georgina who took the initial call, Sean who we met with to discuss arrangements and who was there on the day. All arrangements went as planned and the whole process was made as straightforward as we could have hoped for."
— Charlotte Gibb (about Georgina)
"The director bowing before getting into the car — I could tell that a lot of work goes into making sure the day goes as well as could be expected. They did their very best to make the whole service as much at ease as possible."
— Julie Daughtery
"Harpin's and particularly Georgina and Sara instantly made everything easier. They didn't miss a detail and we felt cared for, supported and looked after from our first phone call until our last visit with them. I would recommend them in a heartbeat."
— Leanne Taylor (about Georgina)
"Jenny from Harpin's is a strong director with a warm and empathetic approach. She lifted all the pressure. Adding personal touches and understanding our needs. Top class service. A credit to the company."
— Jill Westmoreland Harris (about Jenny)
"From the very beginning, Georgina was absolutely incredible. Your calm and compassionate presence made such a difference to us all. You made an unbearably painful time just that little bit easier, and we will always be so grateful for that. You gave us peace and comfort during the hardest time of our lives, and we will never forget that."
— Jennifer Martin (about Georgina)
