Founded by Jacob Conroy in the mid-1970s, the business began operating out of the old church hall in Pegswood before moving to a purpose-built funeral home on Oldgate, Morpeth, in 1989. Jacob's sons, Peter and Mark, joined the family business as it continued to grow, expanding further with offices in Bedlington and Guidepost throughout the 1990s.
In 2007, Jacob sought out a like-minded family business to carry on his legacy, finding a natural fit with William Purves — a company with five generations of experience in premier funeral services. Today, Jacob Conroy & Son operates as part of the William Purves group, with a five-strong team continuing to support bereaved families in Morpeth and the surrounding area.
