Nicholas E. Potts & Daughter is Norwich's longest established independent funeral directors, founded in 1994 by Nick and Carole Potts. Based at Angel House on Angel Road in Norwich, the family-run business has over 30 years of experience providing personalised funeral services across Norwich, Norfolk, and Suffolk. Their commitment to quality care without corporate pricing sets them apart, with fully qualified staff and a 24/7 emergency callout service.
The business offers a comprehensive range of funeral options, including traditional religious services, civil and Humanist ceremonies, eco-burials, and direct cremations. Coffins are available in a wide variety of materials, from traditional veneered oak to willow, bamboo, seagrass, cardboard, banana leaf, and hyacinth leaf. Their modern Mercedes fleet can be complemented by horse-drawn or motorcycle hearses upon request.
Nicholas E. Potts & Daughter prides itself on tailoring every funeral to the individual requirements and beliefs of each family. Pre-payment plans are available through Golden Charter, and they hold a Norwich City Council Visit Initiative accreditation. The team, which includes daughter Natalie Smith, brings warmth, professionalism, and deep local roots to every service they provide.
"Nick and Carol listened very carefully to the family's wishes, paid painstaking attention to detail and delivered a warm, heartfelt, dignified service. Nick's speeches and readings were wonderful and struck exactly the right note."
— Peter Cable (about Nick)
"After the service, several people independently told us it was one of the best services they had ever attended. They helped us give my mum the send-off she truly deserved, and for that we will always be grateful."
— dylan keating
"Made what was one of the worst days of my life beautiful and tailored to my father. I thank Nick and his colleagues from the bottom of my heart."
— kelly comper (about Nick)
"It felt like having an old friend supporting you in difficult times. Nick called me back immediately with suggestions and a personal touch that made me instantly at ease in a stressful situation."
— Miguel Rios (about Nick)
"Nick has a great skill in using humour at the right time and storytelling to help calm nerves and to 'brighten the room' throughout the experience. Nick ensured that the service was unique to dad and our family, by passing full ownership of its minute details to us and ensuring they were fulfilled impeccably."
— Neil Wright (about Nick)
"The grandchildren painted my mother's coffin with flowers and animals on a sunny day in the garden. A truly beautiful healing memorial only made possible with the help of Nick Potts and his family business."
