Michael G Ryan Son & Daughters Funeral Directors has been serving the communities of Newport, Cardiff and the surrounding areas since its establishment on 1st January 1998. The business was founded by Michael Ryan, who was inspired by the compassion and professionalism he witnessed when refurbishing a funeral home in Newport, and quickly discovered a deep satisfaction in providing comfort and support to grieving families.
The Cardiff branch, located at 302 North Road, is part of a family-run business that has grown to include Michael's daughters, Louise and Rachael. Louise became Britain's Youngest Undertaker when she directed her first funeral at just 19 years old, a title later taken by her younger sister Rachael, who directed her first funeral the day after her 16th birthday in 2011. Rachael's training was even documented in a BBC documentary titled 'Britain's Youngest Undertaker'.
The team at Michael G Ryan Son & Daughters is committed to creating tailored, meaningful funerals that reflect the unique life of each loved one. Available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, they offer a full range of services including cremations, burials, green and woodland funerals, unattended cremations, repatriation, and horse-drawn funerals. Part of Funeral Partners Limited, the branch is known for its warmth, professionalism, and compassionate care.

— Annette Baldwin (about Rachel)
"Its the 5th time using them and wouldn't use any other funeral home. They were compassionate from start to finish."
— Robin Royal (about Aimee)
"We asked for the inside of the coffin to be lined and padded and they exceeded our expectations. Everything was done so elegantly, they take the utmost pride in what they do. The owner Michael can't do enough to make sure you're happy every step of the way."
— Julie Collins-Roberts (about Michael)
"My father looked just like he was sleeping. We genuinely felt like we had their complete undivided attention and nothing was too problematic for them. Made a traumatic experience a bit more bearable."
— Kane Anthony
"The compassion and empathy that Michael Ryan's team has shown our family has been second to none. They have been incredibly helpful in assisting with planning the funeral at a time where I've struggled to even function. Trusting someone to look after mum at this time was hard for me, both Aimee and Rachel excelled."
— Mark Bowen (about Aimee)
"From our first meeting with Rachael we just knew that despite feeling devastated, lost and anxious....we were in safe hands. We even drove past our old family home which meant so much to us. They exceeded our expectations and guided us through such a dark and scary time. We will be forever grateful and will never forget your kindness and compassion."

It is extremely difficult to put into words how amazing Rachael is! Our dear Dad had specified in his funeral plan that Michael G Ryan Son and Daughters were the funeral directors he wanted. And my goodness!...we could not have hoped for better! From our first meeting with Rachael we just knew that despite feeling devastated, lost and anxious....we were in safe hands. Every aspect of Dad's funeral was taken care of and we feel that his send-off truly reflected the unique and special person he was. We visited many times in the weeks before the funeral and were always made to feel welcome by both Rachael and Aimee. We get quite emotional when we think about how wonderfully they cared for Dad. We also appreciated them recommending a fantastic celebrant to us and helping us to book Dad's wake. On the actual day we were so impressed with our wonderful drivers; Mike, Simon and Tara. They were so kind and made the journey to the cemetery less stressful than we anticipated. We even drove past our old family home which meant so much to us. Nothing seemed too much trouble , even our distinguished guest - The Goat Major was made very welcome! This review does not do justice to how incredible Rachael and the team are. They exceeded our expectations and guided us through such a dark and scary time. We will be forever grateful and will never forget your kindness and compassion.

This is the second time of dealing with Michael G Ryan but the first for my own family and they have been absolutely brilliant. Making a very hard time that mych easier. The care and precision is wonderful and comforting. Some members of my family have asked to use these in the future too

The compassion and empathy that Michael Ryan’s team has shown our family has been second to none upon losing our mother. They have been incredibly helpful in assisting with planning the funeral at a time where I’ve struggled to even function. Aimee and Rachel led the arrangements and mums send off was perfect, and incredible team that recognise the importance of getting it right. Trusting someone to look after mum at this time was hard for me, both Aimee and Rachel excelled. Thanks again for taking care of mum. Mark

I have used Michael Ryan's and daughters twice, first time was a cremation the respect and professionalism was second to none. More recently my mother passed away Last month she had a burial we had several requests. We asked for the inside of the coffin to be lined and padded and they exceeded our expectations we also wanted a flag put on the coffin in a certain way we also wanted the hearse bearer to walk in front of the hearse from house to church which was a good 8 minute walk plus there was a few more requests that was fulfilled. Everything was done so elegantly, they take the upmost pride in what they do. They have brand new electric hearse and limousines which are kept immaculate. The drivers where amazing and friendly can't remember their names. Aimee and Rachel were also pretty amazing so helpful and so professional, and the owner Michael can't do enough to make sure your happy every step of the way. All in all I won't hesitate to go back and there pricing is also fair. Thank you Michael Ryan's son and daughters for everything and all the advice and help. Julie Roberts
